Who is my Amalek? / ¿Quién es mi Amalec?

The story of Moses and the battle against Amalek

Throughout history, we have seen and heard of so many wars around the world. People fighting people over land, religion, money, power, and even at times over simple things like a loaf of bread.

Everyday we fight small battles that sometimes seem like we want to give up or give in. Fighting for what is right. A spiritual war against death and sin. We must always resist what is evil if we want to follow with God.

In todays gospel, we read about Moses and the battle against Amalek. Just like Moses in the battle with Amalek, our arms can also get tired, making it hard to get through the toughest times.  This is when we need someone like Aaron and Hur come to hold our arms up.

Who is the Amalek in your life? Is it someone who is mean to you or an unfair situation? Is it something that gets in your way of doing good deeds for others?

Facing them will always be hard and at times scary. The Catholic Church is the New Israel. And each of us work together to play a different role in it

We must pray always because we cannot fight the battles without God. The Pope and Bishops lead the church, but we too are called to serve the poor and sick. The brokenhearted. Those without spirit.

We all work together to support each other, fighting the battles against “our” Amalek. We lean on our brothers and sisters in faith to help us through our trials.

How can we serve each other in our battles against Amalek?

• Encourage and support them:
  • Just as Aaron and Hur held up Moses’s hands, we can support those who are fighting battles of their own.
    This might include:
    • Offering words of encouragement.
    • Listening to their struggles.
    • Helping them overcome weaknesses.
• Pray for one another:
  Praying together and for each other is crucial, as it relies on God’s strength rather than our own.
• Be present and help where needed:
  When you see a need, consider it an “assignment to help”.
  This could involve practical help like bringing a meal or watching someone’s children.
• Be humble and accept help:
  Don’t shy away from letting others help you when you are tired or weak.
  This allows others to serve, just as you serve them.
• Remember that it’s a shared battle:
  Recognize that we are all fighting together and that God works through us to help one another.

La historia de Moisés y la batalla contra Amalec

A lo largo de la historia, hemos visto y oído hablar de muchísimas guerras en todo el mundo. Personas que luchan entre sí por tierras, religión, dinero, poder e incluso, a veces, por cosas tan sencillas como una hogaza de pan.

Cada día libramos pequeñas batallas que a veces nos hacen querer rendirnos. Luchamos por lo que es correcto. Una guerra espiritual contra la muerte y el pecado. Siempre debemos resistir el mal si queremos seguir a Dios.

En el evangelio de hoy, leemos sobre Moisés y la batalla contra Amalec. Al igual que Moisés en la batalla contra Amalec, nuestros brazos también pueden cansarse, lo que dificulta superar los momentos más difíciles. Es entonces cuando necesitamos que alguien como Aarón y Hur venga a sostenernos.

¿Quién es el Amalec en tu vida? ¿Es alguien que te trata mal o una situación injusta? ¿Es algo que te impide hacer buenas obras por los demás?

Enfrentarlos siempre será difícil y, a veces, aterrador. La Iglesia Católica es el Nuevo Israel. Y cada uno de nosotros trabaja junto para desempeñar un papel diferente en ella.

Debemos orar siempre porque no podemos librar las batallas sin Dios. El Papa y los obispos dirigen la Iglesia, pero nosotros también estamos llamados a servir a los pobres y enfermos. A los quebrantados de corazón. A los que no tienen espíritu.

Todos trabajamos juntos para apoyarnos mutuamente, luchando contra “nuestro” Amalec. Nos apoyamos en nuestros hermanos y hermanas en la fe para que nos ayuden en nuestras pruebas.

¿Cómo podemos servirnos mutuamente en nuestras batallas contra Amalec?

• Anímalos y apóyalos:
  • Así como Aarón y Hur sostuvieron las manos de Moisés, podemos apoyar a quienes libran sus propias batallas.
    Esto podría incluir:

• Ofrecer palabras de aliento.
• Escuchar sus luchas.
• Ayudarlos a superar sus debilidades.
• Orar unos por otros:
  Orar juntos y unos por otros es crucial, ya que se basa en la fuerza de Dios y no en la nuestra.
• Estén presentes y ayuden cuando sea necesario:
  Cuando vean una necesidad, considérenla una “misión para ayudar”. Esto podría implicar ayuda práctica, como llevar comida o cuidar a los hijos de alguien.
• Sean humildes y acepten la ayuda:
  No duden en dejar que otros los ayuden cuando estén cansados ​​o débiles. Esto permite que otros sirvan, tal como ustedes los sirven.
• Recuerden que es una batalla compartida:
  Reconozcan que todos luchamos juntos y que Dios obra a través de nosotros para ayudarnos mutuamente.
